Confident Walk Cycle WIP

Started on a confident walk cycle while I had a couple of hours free this evening.

Things still to be fixed, but a good solid start I feel!

Lunch Backflip Update

Spent a little more time on it, added an extra step so its not such a long jump to the wall and added small blocks on the wall for him to grab on to.

Break Dance WIP

Inspired by a youtube video of a bunch of guys showing their off skills and break dancing in a mall, I've decided to animate a 10 second (ish) break dance sequence.

I've started off with a front flip and will be moving forwards on to the floor, wish me luck!

Here's what I have so far:

The model is 'Ellis' ripped from Valves Left 4 Dead 2 and rigged up with CAT controllers by myself.

Another Lunchtime Update on the back flip animation

Yesterday I collected lots of feedback and set myself the task of using that feedback. Today I corrected all of the errors and crit given to me.

Today's fix's included:

Cleaning up the arc of the fall, it was too quick at the bottom. It is now a little smoother while still containing the downward faster force.
Changing over the feet, the front foot now correctly lands first.
Added a few frames to the launch, before it was said to be a little too quick.
Fixed his broken leg in mid air.
On the land, I added a sliding back foot and moved his torso a little further back to give momentum.

I also started animating the fingers, only had time to do it on one hand so far. The left hand will have to wait until tomorrow.

Animating Placeholder dude for the foundations of a game

Spent the past couple of days working on some basic animations for a bare bones game in its early stages of development.

I've put together a run cycle, backpeddle cycle, idle and death animation, take a look!

Animating a little Boxling....

Been back on 3DS Max and loving it! Been given a placeholder alien model to animate for an upcoming game, a bunch of us from Codemasters QA as doing in our spare time.

This is a boxling... quite cute eh?

Blink and you'll miss it!

Took some time to animate a biped in a beat'em up style. It was just a placeholder animation for a friend to mess about with in his new engine. But was the first time I animated in 60 fps, and I liked it!

Heres a list of actions and keyframes:

Idle Animation: 1-48
Far Med Punch - 49-73
Far Light Punch - 74-87
Far Heavy Punch - 88-114
Far Light Kick - 115-132
Far Medium Kick - 133-159
Far Heavy Kick - 160-193
Block Active - 194-198
Block Hold - 199-204
Block Recover - 205-209
Hit Active - 210-214
Hit Hold - 215-219
Hit recover - 220-223

Personal Project - TF2 Band

Started on a personal project this week.

My aim is to animate a band playing The Hives - Tick Tick Boom for a minute and a half.

The pyro is now fully rigged and textures applied and I've started animating!

I'm about 40 seconds into the song now, stopping moving forwards to fix up what I have animated so far. A good way of doing this is by getting critique off other TF2 gamers. So the plan is to render out what I've done so far, stick it on the internet and use the comments to better the animation!
